Businesses (including farms) which have introduced environmentally sustainable practices will be recognized in the 2012 NRM Local Achievers Awards.
‘Many of the Island’s farms, tourism, retail and other business enterprises recognise the value of the Kangaroo Island environment and are actively integrating environmental management into their daily practices and the KI NRM Board wishes to recognise them.’ said Presiding Member Richard Trethewey.
Shortlisted nominations for Business; Youth; Community Group, and Outstanding Individual Awards will be introduced at the Sustainable Farms, Sustainable Island conference to be held 17–18 August in Kingscote. The winner of each category will be announced at the conference dinner at the Yacht Club on Saturday 18 August.
Previous winners have gone on to win State and National environmental awards.
