The four investment strategies produced for Kangaroo Island outline actions to address targets from the
Kangaroo Island Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (KI INRM Plan), which was produced in 2004 by the former Kangaroo Island Natural Resources Board Incorporated (KINRB). The priority actions on which these strategies are based were developed through extensive community and stakeholder consultation.

The first Kangaroo Island Investment Strategy 2004-2007 received funding for 17 programs to address NRM issues on Kangaroo Island. This funding opened great opportunites to the Island community for tackling NRM priority actions. Some of this work continued existing programs but most programs funded were new. For the first time the Island has been able to address issues desperately needing research, investigation and remedial treatment.
After four years of investment all funded programs have undertaken vital work on Kangaroo Island. Many are now at the point where their work is coming to fruition and results from their assessments are ready to begin to drive on-ground actions to facilitate landscape scale change. For more information about the funded programs explore
Taking Action.
The format and range of information contained in the investment strategies is outlined each year by the Commonwealth and State governments, which also assess the strategies. Together the two governments select the programs they will fund. The most recent
Investment Strategy is available to download through the Document Library.
